Ingredients

  • 250 grams Ground pork
  • 100 grams Shrimp, peeled, deveined, and finely chopped
  • 2 units Green onions, finely chopped
  • 1 teaspoon Fresh ginger, grated
  • 1 clove Garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon Reduced sodium soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon Rice vinegar
  • 0.5 teaspoon Sugar
  • 1 tablespoon Cornstarch
  • 20 units Wonton wrappers
  • 1 unit Carrot, grated (for garnish, optional)
  • 2 units Shiitake mushrooms, finely chopped (optional)

Directions

Step 1

In a large mixing bowl, combine ground pork, chopped shrimp, green onions, ginger, garlic, soy sauce, sesame oil, rice vinegar, and sugar. Mix well to combine.

Step 2

Add the cornstarch to the mixture and mix thoroughly to ensure even distribution.

Step 3

If using, add finely chopped shiitake mushrooms to the mixture and mix again until evenly combined.

Step 4

Prepare a clean workspace and have a small bowl of water ready to help seal the wonton wrappers.

Step 5

Take one wonton wrapper and place about 1 tablespoon of the filling in the center.

Step 6

Use your finger to dab some water around the edge of the wrapper, then bring the sides up gently around the filling, pleating the edges lightly to form a compact and circular shape with the top exposed.

Step 7

Press the top gently to ensure the filling and wrapper adhere together; garnish with a small pinch of grated carrot if desired.

Step 8

Repeat the process with the remaining filling and wonton wrappers.

Step 9

Prepare a steamer by lining it with parchment paper or cabbage leaves to prevent sticking. Arrange the dumplings in the steamer, leaving about 1 inch of space between each.

Step 10

Fill a large pot with water and bring to a boil. Place the steamer over the pot, making sure it doesn't touch the water.

Step 11

Cover and steam the dumplings for about 15-20 minutes, or until the pork is fully cooked.

Step 12

Carefully remove the dumplings from the steamer and serve hot, optionally with a low sodium dipping sauce or additional reduced sodium soy sauce.
