Ingredients

  • 200 grams Shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 24 pieces Wonton wrappers
  • 2 tablespoons Green onions, finely chopped
  • 1 clove Garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon Ginger, minced
  • 1 tablespoon Low sodium soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon Cornstarch
  • 50 milliliters Water
  • 2 tablespoons Vegetable oil
  • 120 milliliters Low sodium chicken broth

Directions

Step 1

Chop the shrimp into small pieces and place them in a mixing bowl.

Step 2

Add the chopped green onions, minced garlic, minced ginger, low sodium soy sauce, sesame oil, and cornstarch to the shrimp. Mix well to combine the filling ingredients.

Step 3

Place one wonton wrapper on a clean, dry surface. Spoon about 1 teaspoon of shrimp mixture into the center of the wrapper.

Step 4

Using your finger, moisten the edges of the wonton wrapper with water.

Step 5

Fold the wrapper in half to form a triangle or a square packet, pressing the edges firmly to seal.

Step 6

Repeat with the remaining wrappers and filling.

Step 7

In a large nonstick skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat.

Step 8

Arrange the wontons in the skillet and cook for about 2 minutes or until they start to brown.

Step 9

Carefully pour in the low sodium chicken broth and cover the skillet with a lid.

Step 10

Steam the wontons for about 3-4 minutes until the wrappers become translucent and the filling is cooked through.

Step 11

Remove the lid and let any remaining liquid evaporate for about 1 minute, then remove the wontons from the skillet.

Step 12

Serve the shrimp wontons hot with a side of low sodium dipping sauce, if desired.
