  • 0.25 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped
  • 0 as desired grated Parmesan cheese for serving (optional)

Directions

Step 1

Bring a large pot of water to a boil. Cook the whole wheat penne pasta according to the package directions, omitting any salt. Drain and set aside.

Step 2

In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and sauté until it begins to soften, about 5 minutes.

Step 3

Add the minced garlic to the skillet and cook for an additional minute, until fragrant.
