Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef (90% lean)
  • 1 tablespoon low sodium Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon black pepper
  • 4 leaves large iceberg lettuce leaves
  • 4 slices reduced-fat cheddar cheese slices
  • 1 None tomato, sliced
  • 1 None red onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 None avocado, sliced
  • 2 tablespoons mustard (optional)

Directions

Step 1

In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, low sodium Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, and black pepper. Mix well until all ingredients are incorporated.

Step 2

Divide the meat mixture into 4 equal portions and shape each portion into a patty, about 1/2 inch thick.

Step 3

Preheat a non-stick skillet or grill pan over medium-high heat.

Step 4

Place the patties in the skillet and cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side or until the internal temperature reaches 160°F (71°C).

Step 5

During the last minute of cooking, place a slice of reduced-fat cheddar cheese on each patty. Cover the skillet with a lid or tent with aluminum foil to melt the cheese.

Step 6

Prepare the lettuce wraps by laying down the iceberg lettuce leaves on a plate.

Step 7

Place each cooked patty onto a lettuce leaf.

Step 8

Top each burger with sliced tomato, red onion, and avocado.

Step 9

Add mustard on top of the burgers, if desired.

Step 10

Fold or wrap the lettuce leaves around the burgers. Serve immediately and enjoy your low sodium lettuce-wrapped cheeseburgers.
