Ingredients

  • 500 grams ground beef or lamb
  • 0.5 medium red onion
  • 0.25 cup fresh parsley
  • 0.25 cup fresh cilantro
  • 2 large garlic cloves
  • 1 teaspoon cumin powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 0.5 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 0.5 teaspoon ground coriander
  • 0.25 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted tomato paste

Directions

Step 1

Finely chop the red onion, parsley, and cilantro, then mince the garlic cloves.

Step 2

In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground meat with the chopped onion, parsley, cilantro, minced garlic, cumin, paprika, black pepper, ground coriander, cinnamon, lemon juice, olive oil, and tomato paste.

Step 3

Mix all the ingredients well using your hands until they are fully combined and the mixture is uniform.

Step 4

Divide the mixture into 8 equal parts and shape each part into a small elongated patty or sausage shape.

Step 5

If using skewers, gently insert a skewer into the center of each patty. This step is optional if you're pan-frying.

Step 6

Preheat a grill or a pan over medium-high heat. If grilling, lightly oil the grill grates. If using a pan, add a bit of olive oil.

Cook the kefta for about 6-8 minutes on each side, or until fully cooked through and nicely browned on the outside.

Step 8

Once cooked, remove from heat and let them rest for a few minutes.

Step 9

Serve warm with your choice of side dishes such as salad, rice, or flatbread.
