Ingredients

  • 500 ml water
  • 2 teaspoons black tea leaves
  • 1 teaspoon ground cardamom
  • 0.5 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 inch piece fresh ginger
  • 250 ml low sodium milk
  • 1 tablespoon sugar or honey

Directions

Step 1

In a small pot, add the 500 ml of water and bring it to a boil.

Step 2

Once the water is boiling, reduce the heat to medium and add the black tea leaves and ground cardamom.

Step 3

Add the ground cinnamon to the pot, stirring gently.

Step 4

Peel the fresh ginger and slightly crush it using the back of a spoon or a mortar and pestle. Add the crushed ginger to the pot.

Step 5

Let the mixture simmer for approximately 3-4 minutes to allow the spices and tea to infuse thoroughly.

Pour in the low sodium milk and sugar or honey. Stir well to combine all the ingredients.

Raise the heat back to medium and allow the mixture to come to a gentle boil again.
