Ingredients

  • 450 grams All-purpose flour
  • 50 grams Granulated sugar
  • 7 grams Instant yeast
  • 60 grams Unsalted butter
  • 250 milliliters Milk
  • 1 large Egg
  • 2 tablespoons Ground cinnamon
  • 100 grams Brown sugar
  • 60 grams Unsalted butter (softened)

Directions

Step 1

In a small saucepan, slightly heat the milk until it's lukewarm (around 38°C). Be sure not to overheat as it could kill the yeast.

Step 2

In a mixing bowl, combine all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, and instant yeast.

Step 3

Gradually add the warm milk and mix on low speed using a stand mixer with a dough hook attachment.

Step 4

Add in the unsalted butter and large egg. Mix until the dough starts coming together and becomes smooth and elastic. This usually takes about 5-8 minutes.

Step 5

Transfer the dough to a lightly floured surface and knead it by hand for a couple more minutes.

Step 6

Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl, cover it with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 90 minutes or until doubled in size.

Step 7

Preheat the oven to 200°C (392°F).

Step 8

Prepare the filling by mixing softened unsalted butter, brown sugar, and ground cinnamon in a bowl until well blended.

Step 9

Punch down the risen dough and roll it out on a floured surface into a rectangle approximately 35x25 cm.

Step 10

Spread the cinnamon filling evenly over the rolled-out dough, reaching all edges.

Step 11

Carefully roll the dough up from the long side, creating a tight log.

Step 12

Slice the roll into 12 even pieces and place each piece in a lined baking tray or a greased baking dish, cut side up.

Step 13

Cover the rolls and let them rise again for about 30 minutes.

Step 14

Bake the cinnamon rolls in the preheated oven for about 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.

Step 15

Remove from the oven and let them cool slightly before serving.
