Ingredients

  • 300 grams Dark chocolate (minimum 70% cocoa, low sodium)
  • 2 tablespoons Unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 tablespoons Unsalted butter
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract
  • 2 tablespoons Powdered sugar (optional for sweetness)
  • 1 set Silicone egg molds

Directions

Step 1

Start by setting up a double boiler. Fill a medium saucepan with about an inch of water and bring it to a simmer. Place a heatproof bowl on top of the saucepan ensuring the bottom of the bowl does not touch the water.

Step 2

Add the 300 grams of dark chocolate to the bowl and melt gently, stirring occasionally until smooth.

Step 3

Once the chocolate is melted, add the 2 tablespoons of unsweetened cocoa powder and stir until fully combined.

Step 4

Add the 2 tablespoons of unsalted butter to the melted chocolate mixture, stirring until the butter has completely melted and the mixture is smooth.

Step 5

Stir in the 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract for flavor. If desired, sift in 2 tablespoons of powdered sugar to enhance sweetness, mixing until fully dissolved.

Step 6

Once the mixture is smooth and well combined, remove the bowl from the heat.

Step 7

Pour the melted chocolate mixture into the silicone egg molds, filling each cavity completely.

Step 8

Gently tap the molds on the counter to remove any air bubbles.

Step 9

Place the molds in the refrigerator to set for at least 20 minutes or until the chocolate is completely firm.

Step 10

Once set, carefully remove the chocolate eggs from the molds.

Step 11

Store the homemade chocolate eggs in an airtight container in a cool, dry place until ready to serve.
