Ingredients

  • 2 pounds Tri-Tip Roast
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic Powder
  • 1 teaspoon Onion Powder
  • 1 teaspoon Black Pepper
  • 1 teaspoon Paprika
  • 0.5 teaspoon Dried Oregano
  • 2 tablespoons Olive Oil
  • 4 buns Whole Wheat Buns
  • 4 leaves Lettuce Leaves
  • 1 large Tomato
  • 0.5 medium Red Onion
  • 4 tablespoons Low Sodium Mustard

Directions

Step 1

In a small bowl, mix together garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, paprika, and dried oregano to form a seasoning blend.

Step 2

Rub the tri-tip roast with olive oil on all sides, then coat evenly with the seasoning blend.

Step 3

Preheat your grill to medium-high heat.

Step 4

Place the tri-tip roast on the grill and sear each side for about 5 minutes until a crust forms.

Step 5

Reduce the heat to medium, cover the grill, and continue cooking the tri-tip roast for about 20-25 minutes, turning occasionally. Cook until the internal temperature reaches 135°F for medium-rare or 145°F for medium.

Step 6

Remove the tri-tip from the grill and let it rest for 10 minutes before slicing against the grain into thin strips.

Step 7

While the tri-tip is resting, slice the tomato and red onion thinly.

Step 8

Toast the whole wheat buns on the grill until lightly crispy.

Step 9

Assemble the sandwiches by spreading 1 tablespoon of low sodium mustard on each bun's bottom half.

Step 10

Layer the sliced tri-tip, lettuce leaf, tomato slice, and onion slice on the bun.

Step 11

Top with the other half of the bun and serve immediately.
