Ingredients

  • 2.5 cups All-purpose flour
  • 1 packet (2 1/4 teaspoons) Active dry yeast
  • 0.25 cups Granulated sugar
  • 0.25 cup Unsalted butter
  • 0.75 cup Whole milk
  • 0.25 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 tablespoon Ground cinnamon
  • 0.5 cups Brown sugar
  • 1 large Egg
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract

Directions

Step 1

In a small saucepan, combine milk and unsalted butter over medium heat until the butter melts. Allow the mixture to cool until it's lukewarm.

Step 2

In a large mixing bowl, combine 1 cup of flour, yeast, granulated sugar, and salt.

Step 3

Add the lukewarm milk mixture, egg, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients and mix well.

Step 4

Gradually add the remaining flour, about a cup at a time, and stir until a soft dough forms.

Step 5

Turn out the dough onto a lightly floured surface and knead for about 5 minutes, until smooth and elastic.

Step 6

Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl, cover with a clean cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.

Step 7

Once the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out on a floured surface into a rectangle approximately 12x9 inches.

Step 8

In a small bowl, combine the brown sugar and ground cinnamon.

Step 9

Brush the rolled-out dough lightly with melted unsalted butter, then sprinkle the cinnamon-sugar mixture over the top.

Step 10

Starting from the long edge, tightly roll up the dough into a log and cut it into 12 even slices using a sharp knife.

Step 11

Place the rolls into a greased 9x13-inch baking pan, leaving a little space between each roll. Cover and let them rise again for about 30 minutes.

Step 12

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

Step 13

Bake the cinnamon rolls in the preheated oven for 15-18 minutes, or until they are golden brown on top.

Step 14

Once baked, cool slightly before serving, optionally drizzled with a powdered sugar glaze or cream cheese frosting for extra sweetness.
