Ingredients

  • 250 grams All-purpose flour
  • 125 milliliters Warm water
  • 2 tablespoons Vegetable oil
  • 2 pieces Eggs
  • 2 tablespoons Unsalted butter or ghee
  • 0.5 teaspoon Baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon Sugar
  • 0.25 teaspoon Salt

Directions

Step 1

In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt. Mix well.

Step 2

Create a well in the center of the flour mixture, and add warm water and 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil. Mix until a dough forms.

Step 3

Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for about 10 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic.

Step 4

Divide the dough into four equal portions and shape each portion into a ball.

Step 5

Grease the dough balls with a little vegetable oil, cover them with a damp cloth, and let them rest for at least 30 minutes.

Step 6

On a floured surface, roll out each dough ball into a thin, roughly 10-inch circle. It should be translucent.

Step 7

Beat the eggs in a small bowl. Use one beaten egg per prata.

Step 8

Heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat and add a little unsalted butter or ghee.

Step 9

Place the rolled-out dough into the skillet and pour one beaten egg over it, spreading the egg evenly.

Step 10

Fold the edges of the dough to encase the egg and cook until golden brown, about 3 minutes on each side.

Step 11

Remove the prata from the skillet and keep it warm. Repeat the process for the remaining dough balls and eggs.

Step 12

Serve the low sodium egg prata hot with your favorite curry or chutney.
