Ingredients

  • 24 pieces Wonton wrappers
  • 0.5 pounds Ground chicken
  • 1 medium, grated Carrot
  • 0.5 cup, finely chopped Green cabbage
  • 2 stalks, finely chopped Green onions
  • 1 teaspoon, grated Fresh ginger
  • 2 cloves, minced Garlic
  • 1 tablespoon Low-sodium soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Toasted sesame oil
  • 0.25 teaspoon Black pepper
  • 1 large, beaten Egg
  • 2 cups, for frying Vegetable oil
  • 0.25 cup, for sealing wontons Water

Directions

Step 1

In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground chicken, grated carrot, chopped cabbage, green onions, grated ginger, and minced garlic.

Step 2

Add the low-sodium soy sauce, toasted sesame oil, and black pepper to the mixture. Stir until everything is evenly combined.

Step 3

Place a wonton wrapper on a clean surface. Use a spoon to drop about 1 teaspoon of the filling in the center of the wrapper.

Step 4

Dip your finger into the water and moisten the edges of the wonton wrapper. Fold the wrapper in half diagonally to form a triangle, enclosing the filling. Press the edges to seal.

Step 5

Bring the two outer corners of the triangle together and pinch them to form a classic wonton shape. Repeat with the remaining wrappers and filling.

Step 6

Heat the vegetable oil in a large, deep skillet or wok over medium heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

Step 7

Carefully add the wontons in batches, frying them until they are golden brown and crispy, about 2-3 minutes per side. Avoid overcrowding the pan.

Step 8

Use a slotted spoon to remove the cooked wontons from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.

Step 9

Serve the crispy fried wontons hot with your choice of dipping sauce, such as a low-sodium soy sauce or vinegar-based dip.
