  • 2 tbsp low sodium soy sauce or tamari (optional, for serving)

Directions

Step 1

Start by draining the tofu: remove from package and discard the liquid. Place the tofu block on a cutting board lined with a few paper towels or a clean kitchen towel.

Place another layer of paper towels on top of the tofu, then weigh it down with a heavy skillet or canned goods. Let it press for about 15 minutes to remove excess water.

Cut the pressed tofu into 1-inch cubes and gently pat them dry with a paper towel.

In a large mixing bowl, combine cornstarch, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, and black pepper. Stir to mix evenly.
