  • 0.25 teaspoon black pepper, freshly ground
  • 1 whole bay leaf
  • 1 teaspoon sugar

Directions

Step 1

Heat olive oil in a large pot over medium heat.

Step 2

Add the chopped onion, carrot, and celery, and sauté until vegetables are soft, about 8 minutes.
