Ingredients

  • 1 ball Whole Wheat Pizza Dough
  • 1 cup Low-Sodium Tomato Sauce
  • 1.5 cups Mozzarella Cheese (low-sodium, shredded)
  • 4 ounces Low-Sodium Italian Sausage
  • 0.5 cup Red Bell Pepper
  • 0.5 cup Mushrooms
  • 1 teaspoon Dried Oregano
  • 1 teaspoon Dried Basil
  • 0.5 teaspoon Garlic Powder
  • 1 tablespoon Olive Oil
  • 0.5 teaspoon Black Pepper

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C). If you have a pizza stone, place it in the oven to heat up.

Step 2

Roll out the whole wheat pizza dough to your preferred thickness on a lightly floured surface.

Step 3

Lightly brush the rolled-out dough with olive oil. Spread the low-sodium tomato sauce evenly over the dough, leaving a small border around the edges.

Step 4

Sprinkle the shredded low-sodium mozzarella cheese evenly over the sauce.

Step 5

In a pan over medium heat, crumble the low-sodium Italian sausage and cook until browned. Drain any excess fat.

Step 6

Distribute the cooked sausage evenly over the cheese layer on the pizza.

Step 7

Slice the red bell pepper and mushrooms thinly. Arrange them evenly on top of the sausage.

Step 8

Sprinkle the oregano, basil, garlic powder, and black pepper over the top of the pizza for added flavor.

Step 9

Transfer the pizza to the oven. If using a pizza stone, you can use a peel to move it onto the stone.

Step 10

Bake for 18-20 minutes or until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbly and starting to brown.

Step 11

Remove the pizza from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before slicing.

Step 12

Slice the pizza into 8 pieces. Serve warm and enjoy your delicious low-sodium classic sausage pizza!
