Ingredients

  • 3 cups All-purpose flour
  • 2.25 teaspoons Active dry yeast
  • 2 tablespoons Sugar
  • 2 tablespoons Unsalted butter
  • 1 cup Milk
  • 0.25 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.25 cup Water
  • 1 large Egg
  • 1 tablespoon Olive oil

Directions

Step 1

In a small saucepan over low heat, heat the milk until it is just warm to the touch (about 110°F or 43°C). Remove from heat and stir in the sugar and butter until melted and combined.

Step 2

In a large mixing bowl, combine 1 cup of flour, active dry yeast, and salt. Mix well.

Step 3

Add the warm milk mixture and water to the flour mixture. Stir until smooth.

Step 4

Beat the egg into the mixture until fully incorporated.

Step 5

Gradually add the remaining flour, about a half cup at a time, stirring with a wooden spoon until the mixture forms a soft dough that pulls away from the sides of the bowl.

Step 6

Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead for about 8-10 minutes, or until the dough is smooth and elastic.

Step 7

Place the dough in a greased bowl (using the olive oil), turning the dough once to coat the surface. Cover with a damp cloth and let rise in a warm place until doubled in size, about 1 hour.

Step 8

Punch down the dough and divide it into 12 equal portions. Shape each portion into a ball and place on a greased or parchment-lined baking sheet.

Step 9

Cover the rolls with a damp cloth and let them rise again until doubled, about 30 minutes.

Step 10

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

Step 11

Bake the rolls in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown on top.

Step 12

Remove from the oven and allow to cool slightly before serving.
