Ingredients

  • 200 grams all-purpose flour
  • 100 grams unsalted butter, chilled and cut into small cubes
  • 150 grams low sodium cheddar cheese, grated
  • 60 milliliters cold water
  • 0.5 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 0.5 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 egg, lightly beaten

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 200°C (400°F) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Step 2

In a large bowl, combine the all-purpose flour and chilled unsalted butter cubes. Use your fingertips to rub the butter into the flour until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

Step 3

Add the grated low sodium cheddar cheese, ground black pepper, and paprika to the flour mixture. Mix until evenly distributed.

Step 4

Gradually add the cold water, stirring with a fork until the dough comes together. Be careful not to overmix.

Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and gently knead until smooth. Roll the dough into a rectangle about 25cm x 35cm (10in x 14in).
