Ingredients

  • 500 grams All-purpose flour
  • 250 milliliters Water
  • 50 milliliters Olive oil
  • 400 grams Ground beef
  • 1 large Onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons Fresh parsley, chopped
  • 0.5 teaspoons Ground black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon Paprika
  • 0.25 teaspoon Cayenne pepper (optional)
  • 100 milliliters Unflavored yogurt or kefir
  • 500 milliliters Vegetable oil

Directions

Step 1

In a large bowl, combine all-purpose flour with olive oil and gradually add water while stirring until a dough forms.

Step 2

Knead the dough until smooth and elastic, about 5-7 minutes. Cover and let it rest for 20 minutes.

Step 3

While the dough rests, prepare the filling. In a medium bowl, mix the ground beef with chopped onion, minced garlic, chopped parsley, ground black pepper, paprika, and cayenne pepper if using.

Step 4

Add yogurt or kefir to the beef mixture and mix until well combined. This will ensure the filling stays juicy and tender.

Step 5

Divide the rested dough into 8 equally sized portions.

Step 6

On a lightly floured surface, roll each portion of dough into a thin circle, approximately 8-10 inches in diameter.

Step 7

Place about 2-3 tablespoons of the meat filling on one side of each dough circle, leaving an edge for sealing.

Step 8

Fold the dough over the filling to create a semi-circle. Press the edges together firmly, then crimp or flute the edges with a fork to ensure they are well-sealed.

Step 9

Heat vegetable oil in a deep skillet or frying pan over medium-high heat.

Step 10

Once the oil is hot, carefully fry each Cheburek, turning once, until golden brown and crispy on both sides, about 3-4 minutes per side.

Step 11

Remove the fried Chebureks from the oil and place them on paper towels to drain excess oil.

Step 12

Serve warm and enjoy your homemade Low Sodium Chebureks, perfect as a flavorful appetizer or snack.
