Ingredients

  • 500 grams ground beef
  • 50 grams fresh chives
  • 1 tablespoon, freshly grated ginger
  • 1 clove, minced garlic
  • 1 tablespoon low sodium soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 0.5 teaspoon black pepper
  • 36 pieces wonton wrappers
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 120 milliliters, for sealing water

Directions

Step 1

Start by preparing the filling. In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, finely chopped chives, grated ginger, minced garlic, low sodium soy sauce, sesame oil, and black pepper. Mix until evenly combined.

Step 2

To assemble the dumplings, lay a wonton wrapper on a flat surface and place approximately one teaspoon of the filling mixture in the center.

Step 3

Dip your finger in a small bowl of water and run it along the edges of the wrapper. This will help seal the dumpling.

Step 4

Fold the wrapper in half over the filling to create a half-moon shape, making sure to press out any air and seal the edges tightly.

Step 5

Repeat this process for the remaining wrappers and filling.

Step 6

In a large non-stick skillet, heat a tablespoon of vegetable oil over medium heat.

Step 7

Place the dumplings flat-side down in the skillet and cook until the bottoms are golden brown, about 3 minutes.

Step 8

Carefully pour 60ml (about 1/4 cup) of water into the skillet, cover immediately and let the dumplings steam until the water has evaporated and the beef is cooked through, about 7 minutes.

Step 9

Remove the lid and continue cooking for another minute or until the bottoms are crisp.

Step 10

Serve warm with your choice of dipping sauce or enjoy them just as they are for a low sodium snack.
