Ingredients

  • 1 round (approximately 250g) Low sodium Camembert cheese, whole
  • 2 sprigs Fresh rosemary sprigs
  • 2 cloves Garlic cloves
  • 1 tablespoon Olive oil
  • 1 pinch Black pepper, freshly ground
  • 300 grams Crusty bread or low sodium crackers, for serving

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F).

Step 2

Remove any plastic or paper wrapping from the camembert cheese.

Step 3

Place the unwrapped cheese back into its wooden box, or if it does not have a wooden box, place it into a small, ovenproof dish lined with parchment paper.

Step 4

Score the top of the camembert gently with a sharp knife, creating a crosshatch pattern without cutting all the way through the cheese.

Step 5

Peel the garlic cloves and cut them into thin slices.

Step 6

Gently poke the rosemary sprigs and garlic slices into the slits on the top of the camembert.

Step 7

Drizzle the olive oil over the top of the cheese, ensuring some seeps into the slits.

Step 8

Season with a pinch of freshly ground black pepper.

Step 9

Place the camembert, in its dish or box, onto a baking tray to catch any potential spills.

Step 10

Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until the cheese is soft and the top is lightly golden.

Step 11

Remove from the oven and let it sit for a couple of minutes before serving.

Step 12

Serve with crusty bread or low sodium crackers for dipping into the gooey, aromatic cheese.
