Ingredients

  • 500 grams ground beef (95% lean)
  • 250 grams ground turkey
  • 100 grams oatmeal
  • 60 grams unsalted tomato paste
  • 15 ml low sodium Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 large egg
  • 30 grams fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 0.5 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 medium red bell pepper, diced
  • 10 ml olive oil

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F) and lightly grease a loaf pan with olive oil or line it with parchment paper.

Step 2

In a small skillet over medium heat, add olive oil and sauté the diced onion and red bell pepper until softened, about 5 minutes. Add the minced garlic and cook for an additional 1 minute. Set the mixture aside to cool slightly.

Step 3

In a large bowl, combine ground beef, ground turkey, oatmeal, and the cooled onion-pepper mixture.

Step 4

Add the egg, unsalted tomato paste, low sodium Worcestershire sauce, chopped parsley, ground cumin, and black pepper to the meat mixture. Using your hands, mix until all the ingredients are well incorporated.

Step 5

Transfer the meat mixture into the prepared loaf pan and shape it into a loaf, pressing it down firmly to ensure it holds together.

Step 6

Place the loaf pan in the preheated oven and bake for about 60 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 70°C (160°F) and the meatloaf is cooked through.

Step 7

Once done, let the meatloaf sit for about 10 minutes before slicing to allow the juices to redistribute.

Step 8

Slice and serve warm, garnished with additional fresh parsley if desired.
