Ingredients

  • 2 racks Pork baby back ribs (or pork spare ribs)
  • 2 tablespoons Olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons Brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon Smoked paprika
  • 1 tablespoon Garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon Onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon Chili powder
  • 2 teaspoons Salt
  • 1 teaspoon Black pepper
  • 1 cup Barbecue sauce (your favorite kind)

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 275°F (135°C).

Step 2

If your ribs have a membrane on the back, remove it by sliding a knife under the corner and pulling it off with a paper towel for grip.

Step 3

Place the ribs on a large baking sheet lined with aluminum foil for easy cleanup.

Step 4

Brush both sides of the ribs lightly with olive oil to act as a binding agent for the rub.

Step 5

In a small bowl, mix together the brown sugar, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, chili powder, salt, and black pepper to create the dry rub.

Step 6

Generously sprinkle the dry rub over both sides of the ribs, pressing it into the meat to ensure it sticks.

Step 7

Cover the ribs tightly with another sheet of aluminum foil, sealing the edges to create a packet. This will keep the ribs moist while cooking.

Step 8

Place the ribs in the preheated oven and bake for 3.5 to 4 hours, or until they are tender and the meat pulls away from the bones easily.

Step 9

Carefully remove the ribs from the oven and discard the top layer of foil.

Step 10

Brush the ribs generously with barbecue sauce on both sides.

Step 11

Turn the oven to broil and place the ribs back in the oven, uncovered, for 3-5 minutes to caramelize the barbecue sauce. Keep a close eye to avoid burning.

Step 12

Remove the ribs from the oven, let them rest for 5 minutes, then slice and serve with additional barbecue sauce on the side!
