Ingredients

  • 300 grams All-purpose flour
  • 140 ml Water
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 250 grams Lean ground chicken or turkey (low-fat)
  • 1 medium Onion (finely chopped)
  • 2 cloves Garlic (minced)
  • 0.5 teaspoon Ground black pepper
  • 0.5 teaspoon Cumin powder
  • 200 grams Low-fat yogurt (for serving, optional)
  • 2 tablespoons Fresh dill (chopped, for garnish)

Directions

Step 1

In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour and salt. Gradually add water while stirring with a spoon or your hands until a dough forms.

Step 2

Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for about 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic. Cover with a clean kitchen towel and let it rest for 30 minutes.

Step 3

While the dough rests, prepare the filling. In a medium bowl, combine the ground chicken or turkey, chopped onion, minced garlic, ground black pepper, and cumin. Mix thoroughly to ensure the filling is well-seasoned. Set aside.

Step 4

After the dough has rested, divide it into 12 equal portions. Roll each portion into a thin circle (approximately 4 inches in diameter) using a rolling pin, keeping the surface lightly floured to prevent sticking.

Step 5

Place 1–1.5 tablespoons of the filling in the center of each dough circle.

Step 6

To shape the manty, fold the edges of the dough upwards to form pleats and seal the dumpling firmly. Make sure there are no gaps where the filling could spill out.

Step 7

Prepare a steamer by greasing the steamer trays with a thin layer of oil to prevent sticking. Place the manty on the trays, leaving some space between each dumpling.

Step 8

Bring water to a boil in the steamer base. Once boiling, place the trays with manty in the steamer, cover, and steam for 30 minutes on medium heat.

Step 9

After 30 minutes, carefully remove the manty from the steamer and let them cool slightly.

Step 10

Serve warm, optionally garnished with a dollop of low-fat yogurt and chopped fresh dill.
