Ingredients

  • 400 grams Fresh okra
  • 1 teaspoons Olive oil
  • 2 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 1 small Red onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 teaspoons Cumin seeds
  • 0.5 teaspoons Turmeric powder
  • 0.5 teaspoons Salt
  • 0.25 teaspoons Black pepper
  • 1 tablespoons Lemon juice

Directions

Step 1

Wash the okra thoroughly and pat it dry with a clean kitchen towel. Cut off the ends and slice the okra into 1/2-inch rounds.

Step 2

Heat 1 teaspoon of olive oil in a large non-stick skillet or wok over medium heat.

Step 3

Add the cumin seeds to the pan and sauté for about 30 seconds, or until they start to sizzle and release their aroma.

Step 4

Add the minced garlic and sliced red onion to the skillet. Stir-fry for 2–3 minutes until the onions soften and become translucent.

Step 5

Add the sliced okra to the pan and stir well to combine. Cook for 8–10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the okra is tender and lightly browned.

Step 6

Sprinkle the turmeric powder, salt, and black pepper over the okra. Mix well to evenly coat the vegetables with the seasoning.

Step 7

Once the okra is cooked, turn off the heat and drizzle the lemon juice over the dish. Stir one final time to distribute the juice.

Step 8

Serve warm as a side dish or with steamed rice for a light and healthy meal.
