Ingredients

  • 250 grams Lean ground pork
  • 100 grams Green cabbage
  • 2 stalks Green onion
  • 1 teaspoon Ginger
  • 1 tablespoon Low sodium soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon Cornstarch
  • 24 pieces Gyoza or dumpling wrappers
  • 0 as needed for sealing wrappers Water
  • 0 as needed for steaming basket Non-stick cooking spray

Directions

Step 1

Finely chop the green cabbage and place it in a bowl. Sprinkle with a pinch of salt and let it rest for 5 minutes. Squeeze out any excess water using a clean kitchen towel or paper towels.

Step 2

Thinly slice the green onions and grate the ginger.

Step 3

In a large mixing bowl, combine the lean ground pork, chopped cabbage, green onions, ginger, low sodium soy sauce, sesame oil, and cornstarch. Mix thoroughly until well combined.

Step 4

Lay one dumpling wrapper on a clean surface and place about 1 teaspoon of the filling in the center.

Step 5

Dip your finger into water and run it along the edge of the wrapper. Fold the wrapper in half to create a half-moon shape and gently press the edges together to seal. You can pleat the edges for a decorative finish if desired. Repeat with the remaining wrappers and filling.

Step 6

Lightly spray a steaming basket with non-stick cooking spray to prevent the dumplings from sticking.

Step 7

Place the dumplings in the steaming basket, making sure they do not touch each other to avoid sticking.

Step 8

Heat a pot of water to simmering and set the steaming basket over the pot, ensuring the water does not touch the dumplings.

Step 9

Cover and steam the dumplings for 8-10 minutes, or until the filling is fully cooked and the wrappers are tender.

Step 10

Carefully remove the dumplings from the steaming basket and serve immediately with your favorite dipping sauce, such as a mixture of soy sauce and rice vinegar.
