Ingredients

  • 4 pieces Hilsha fish fillets
  • 1 teaspoon Turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon Red chili powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon Cumin powder
  • 1 teaspoon Ginger-garlic paste
  • 1 tablespoon Lemon juice
  • 0.5 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 teaspoon Mustard oil (for brushing)
  • 1 as required Non-stick cooking spray
  • 2 tablespoons Fresh coriander leaves (optional, for garnish)

Directions

Step 1

Rinse the Hilsha fish fillets gently under cold water and pat them dry with a paper towel.

Step 2

In a small bowl, mix the turmeric powder, red chili powder, cumin powder, ginger-garlic paste, lemon juice, and salt to create a thick marinade.

Step 3

Rub the marinade evenly over both sides of the Hilsha fish fillets. Let them marinate for at least 30 minutes in the refrigerator.

Step 4

Preheat a non-stick or cast-iron skillet on medium heat. Lightly coat the skillet with non-stick cooking spray.

Step 5

Place the marinated Hilsha fillets on the skillet. Cook for 6-7 minutes on one side until golden brown, then carefully flip and cook for another 6-7 minutes until the fish is fully cooked and slightly charred.

Step 6

Brush the cooked fillets lightly with mustard oil for a traditional flavor boost.

Step 7

Garnish with fresh coriander leaves, if desired, and serve hot with steamed rice or as a standalone appetizer.
