Ingredients

  • 250 grams Lean ground chicken
  • 150 grams Shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 50 grams Water chestnuts, finely chopped
  • 2 stalks Green onions, finely chopped
  • 2 tablespoons Soy sauce, low sodium
  • 1 teaspoon Sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon Ginger, grated
  • 1 teaspoon Cornstarch
  • 20 pieces Won ton wrappers
  • 1 small Carrot, sliced into thin rounds for decoration
  • 0.5 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.25 teaspoon Black pepper
  • 0 for steaming basket Cooking spray

Directions

Step 1

In a large bowl, combine the lean ground chicken and shrimp. Using a food processor, pulse the shrimp until it's finely chopped and then mix it with the chicken.

Step 2

Add the finely chopped water chestnuts, green onions, low-sodium soy sauce, sesame oil, grated ginger, cornstarch, salt, and black pepper to the bowl. Mix everything thoroughly to combine.

Step 3

Prepare the won ton wrappers by laying them out on a clean surface. Place about 1 tablespoon of the filling mixture into the center of each wrapper.

Step 4

Gather the edges of the wrapper up and around the filling, pressing gently to form a small cup shape. Top each dumpling with a small carrot round for decoration.

Step 5

Lightly spray a steaming basket with cooking spray to prevent sticking. Arrange the dumplings in the basket, making sure they don’t touch each other.

Step 6

Bring a pot of water to a simmer and place the steaming basket on top, ensuring it doesn’t touch the water.

Step 7

Cover and steam the dumplings for 10-15 minutes or until the filling is cooked through and the wrappers are tender.

Step 8

Serve hot with your choice of dipping sauce or enjoy them on their own.
