Ingredients

  • 100 grams White sesame seeds
  • 150 grams Jaggery
  • 2 tablespoons Water
  • 0.5 teaspoon Cardamom powder
  • 1 teaspoon Ghee (clarified butter)

Directions

Step 1

Begin by dry roasting the white sesame seeds in a pan over medium heat. Stir continuously for about 5-7 minutes until they turn golden brown and release a nutty aroma. Remove from heat and let them cool slightly.

Step 2

In a separate pan, add the jaggery along with 2 tablespoons of water. Cook on low heat until the jaggery completely melts and turns into a smooth syrup. Stir occasionally to prevent burning.

Step 3

To test the consistency of the jaggery syrup, drop a small amount into a bowl of cold water. If it forms a firm ball, the syrup is ready. If not, continue to cook for a few more minutes.

Step 4

Once the syrup reaches the correct consistency, add the cardamom powder and mix well.

Step 5

Incorporate the roasted sesame seeds into the jaggery syrup, stirring continuously until the sesame seeds are evenly coated with syrup.

Step 6

Grease your palms with a small amount of ghee. While the mixture is still warm (but not hot), take small portions and roll them into small round balls between your palms.

Step 7

Repeat the process with the remaining mixture. Allow the laddus to cool completely before serving.

Step 8

Store the laddus in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week.
