Ingredients

  • 2 cups Rice flour
  • 1.5 cups Water
  • 0.5 teaspoons Salt
  • 1 teaspoons Oil

Directions

Step 1

Begin by boiling 1.5 cups of water in a medium saucepan. Once the water reaches a rolling boil, add the salt to it.

Step 2

Slowly add the rice flour into the boiling water, stirring continuously to prevent lumps from forming.

Step 3

Once all the flour is added, turn off the heat and allow the mixture to cool down slightly until it's comfortable to handle with your hands.

Step 4

Grease your hands lightly with the oil. Knead the warm rice dough gently until it becomes smooth and pliable.

Step 5

Divide the dough into 4 equal portions and roll each portion into a ball.

Step 6

On a clean surface or using a rolling board, flatten each rice ball by pressing it with your palms or roll it out gently using a rolling pin, until it's about 1/8 inch thick. You can use a little rice flour to prevent sticking.

Step 7

Heat a non-stick skillet or a tava over medium heat.

Step 8

Carefully place one rolled bhakari onto the hot skillet. Cook for about 2-3 minutes on each side or until light brown spots appear and it puffs up slightly.

Step 9

Repeat the process with the remaining dough balls.

Step 10

Serve the low fat rice bhakari warm with your choice of curry or chutney.
