Ingredients

  • 500 grams lean ground turkey or chicken
  • 2 sheets low-fat puff pastry sheets
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh thyme leaves
  • 1 tablespoon fresh sage, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 large whole egg, beaten
  • 2 large egg whites, beaten

Directions

Step 1

Preheat the oven to 200°C (400°F) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Step 2

In a medium skillet, sauté the finely chopped onion and garlic over medium heat until translucent, about 5 minutes. Let cool slightly.

Step 3

In a large bowl, combine the ground turkey or chicken with the sautéed onion mixture, fresh thyme leaves, chopped sage, salt, and black pepper. Mix well until all ingredients are thoroughly combined.

Step 4

Roll out one puff pastry sheet on a lightly floured surface to even out the edges. Cut the sheet in half to create two long rectangles.

Spoon the turkey mixture along the long side of one pastry rectangle, shaping it into a log about 1 inch in diameter.
