Ingredients

  • 10 sheets Phyllo pastry sheets
  • 150 grams Low-fat nuss nougat spread
  • 1 Egg whites
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract
  • 2 tablespoons Unsweetened almond milk
  • 1 tablespoon Powdered sugar
  • 1 Cooking spray

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and lightly coat it with cooking spray.

Step 2

Lay out one sheet of phyllo pastry on a clean, dry surface. Keep the remaining sheets covered with a damp cloth to prevent drying out.

Step 3

Lightly spray the phyllo sheet with cooking spray, then place another sheet on top and repeat until you have 5 layers.

Step 4

Using a sharp knife, cut the layered phyllo sheets into 4 equal rectangles.

Step 5

Place a heaping teaspoon of low-fat nuss nougat spread at the base of each rectangle.

Step 6

Carefully roll the pastry from the base, folding in the sides to encase the filling. Continue to roll until you have formed a croissant-like shape.

Step 7

Repeat the layering and rolling process for the remaining phyllo sheets and nuss nougat spread.

Step 8

Place each croissant on the prepared baking sheet.

Step 9

In a small bowl, whisk together the egg whites, vanilla extract, and almond milk.

Step 10

Brush the tops of the croissants with the egg white mixture.

Step 11

Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes or until the croissants are golden brown and crisp.

Step 12

Remove from oven and allow to cool slightly on a wire rack.

Step 13

Dust with powdered sugar before serving.
