Ingredients

  • 500 grams Lean ground beef (93% lean)
  • 200 grams White button mushrooms
  • 1 teaspoon Olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon Black pepper
  • 0.5 teaspoon Garlic powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon Onion powder
  • 4 slices Swiss cheese slices
  • 4 pieces Whole grain hamburger buns
  • 4 pieces Lettuce leaves
  • 8 slices Tomato slices

Directions

Step 1

Clean the white button mushrooms with a damp towel and slice them thinly.

Step 2

In a non-stick skillet, heat 1 teaspoon of olive oil over medium heat. Add the sliced mushrooms and sauté for 5-7 minutes, or until they are browned and have released their moisture.

Step 3

In a mixing bowl, combine the lean ground beef with salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Mix gently to incorporate the seasonings evenly.

Step 4

Shape the seasoned beef into four equal patties, about 1/2 inch thick.

Step 5

Preheat a grill or a grill pan over medium-high heat. Grill the patties for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until they are cooked through to an internal temperature of 160°F (71°C).

Step 6

In the last minute of grilling, place a slice of Swiss cheese on each patty and allow it to melt slightly.

Step 7

Lightly toast the whole grain hamburger buns on the grill or in a toaster.

Step 8

Assemble the burgers by placing a lettuce leaf on the bottom of each bun, then add a tomato slice, the grilled burger patty with Swiss cheese, and a generous spoonful of sautéed mushrooms.

Step 9

Top with the other half of the bun and serve immediately.
