Ingredients

  • 300 grams Lean ground beef
  • 1 medium, finely chopped Onion
  • 400 grams Phyllo dough
  • 100 grams Low-fat plain yogurt
  • 1 Egg white
  • 2 tablespoons Olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon Black pepper
  • 0.5 teaspoon Cumin
  • 0.5 teaspoon Paprika
  • 50 ml Chicken broth

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F) and lightly grease a baking dish.

Step 2

In a large frying pan, heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil over medium heat.

Step 3

Add the chopped onions and cook until they become translucent, approximately 3-4 minutes.

Step 4

Stir in the ground beef, breaking it apart with a wooden spoon, and cook until no longer pink, about 5 minutes.

Step 5

Add salt, black pepper, cumin, and paprika to the meat mixture. Stir well to combine.

Step 6

Pour in the chicken broth, reduce heat to low, and let it simmer for another 5 minutes until most liquid is absorbed. Remove from heat and let it cool slightly.

Step 7

In a small bowl, whisk together 1 tablespoon olive oil, low-fat yogurt, and egg white to make a light glaze.

Step 8

Lay a sheet of phyllo dough on a clean surface. Lightly brush it with the yogurt mixture and place another phyllo sheet on top.

Step 9

Spoon about 2-3 tablespoons of the meat mixture along the longer edge of the phyllo sheet.

Step 10

Roll the phyllo tightly around the filling, forming a long cylinder. Place it into the greased baking dish.

Step 11

Repeat the process with the remaining phyllo sheets and meat mixture, coiling each roll into the dish.

Step 12

Brush the top of the burek with any remaining yogurt mixture.

Step 13

Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and crispy.

Step 14

Allow it to cool for a few minutes before serving. Slice into pieces and enjoy.
