Ingredients

  • 200 grams Canned mackerel (in water, drained)
  • 150 grams Chickpea flour (besan)
  • 1 medium Onion
  • 3 tablespoons Fresh coriander leaves
  • 1 small Green chili
  • 1 inch Ginger
  • 2 Garlic cloves
  • 1 teaspoon Carom seeds (ajwain)
  • 1 teaspoon Garam masala
  • 0.5 teaspoon Turmeric powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon Red chili powder
  • 0.25 teaspoon Baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 100 milliliters Water
  • 1 as needed Vegetable oil spray

Directions

Step 1

Finely chop the onion, fresh coriander leaves, green chili, ginger, and garlic cloves. Set aside.

Step 2

In a large bowl, combine chickpea flour, carom seeds, garam masala, turmeric powder, red chili powder, baking soda, and salt. Mix well.

Step 3

Add the drained mackerel to the flour mixture and mash it gently using a fork.

Step 4

Stir in the chopped onion, coriander leaves, green chili, ginger, and garlic into the mackerel mixture.

Gradually add water to the mixture, stirring continuously to form a thick batter. Ensure there are no lumps.
