Ingredients

  • 1 cup White rice
  • 8 cups Water
  • 0.25 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon Maple syrup (optional)

Directions

Step 1

Rinse the white rice under cold water until the water runs clear to remove excess starch.

Step 2

In a medium saucepan, combine the rinsed rice with 4 cups of water.

Step 3

Bring the mixture to a boil over high heat, then reduce the heat to low, cover the saucepan, and let it simmer for 20 minutes or until the rice is tender.

Step 4

Once cooked, remove the saucepan from heat and let the rice cool to room temperature.

Step 5

In a high-speed blender, add the cooked rice, the remaining 4 cups of water, and a pinch of salt.

Step 6

Blend on high for 1-2 minutes until the mixture is smooth and well combined.

Step 7

Strain the rice milk through a nut milk bag or a fine-mesh sieve into a large bowl or pitcher, pressing out the liquid as much as possible.

Step 8

Stir in the vanilla extract and maple syrup (if using), and mix until well combined.

Step 9

Transfer the rice milk to a clean bottle or jug and refrigerate for up to 4 days.

Step 10

Shake well before serving. Enjoy as a beverage or use as a milk substitute in recipes.
