  • 0.5 inch piece fresh ginger
  • 4 pods green cardamom pods
  • 1 small cinnamon stick
  • 2 whole cloves
  • 3 whole black peppercorns
  • 2 teaspoons sugar

Directions

Step 1

Pour 2 cups of water into a medium-sized saucepan and set it over medium heat.

Step 2

Grate the 0.5 inch piece of fresh ginger directly into the saucepan to release its juices.

Step 3

Slightly crush the 4 green cardamom pods using the back of a knife or a mortar and pestle to release their aroma. Add them to the saucepan.

Step 4

Break the small cinnamon stick into pieces and add it to the water along with 2 whole cloves and 3 whole black peppercorns.

Step 5

Bring the water and spice mixture to a boil, allowing the spices to infuse for about 3 minutes.

Add 2 teaspoons of black tea leaves to the boiling water and let it simmer for 2 more minutes for a rich tea flavor.

Step 7

Lower the heat and pour in 0.5 cups of low-fat milk, stirring gently.

Step 8

Add 2 teaspoons of sugar, adjusting to taste, and continue to simmer for another 2-3 minutes.

Step 9

Once the tea has brewed to your desired strength, turn off the heat.

Step 10

Strain the tea into cups, using a fine mesh strainer to remove the leaves and spices.
