Ingredients

  • 500 grams Lean ground turkey
  • 60 grams Breadcrumbs
  • 1 large Egg
  • 1 medium Onion, finely chopped
  • 60 ml Skim milk
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon Black pepper
  • 0 Olive oil spray
  • 240 ml Chicken broth, low sodium
  • 60 grams Low-fat sour cream
  • 15 grams All-purpose flour
  • 0.25 teaspoon Nutmeg
  • 2 tablespoons Parsley, chopped (optional)

Directions

Step 1

In a large bowl, combine ground turkey, breadcrumbs, egg, finely chopped onion, skim milk, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix well until all ingredients are evenly combined.

Step 2

With moistened hands, form meat mixture into small balls, about 1 inch in diameter, and set aside.

Step 3

Heat a large pan over medium heat and lightly spray with olive oil spray. In batches, cook the meatballs, turning occasionally, until browned on all sides and cooked through, about 8-10 minutes per batch. Remove meatballs from the pan and keep warm.

Step 4

In the same pan, add flour and whisk for about 1 minute. Gradually add the chicken broth, whisking continuously to prevent lumps. Simmer for about 3 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly.

Step 5

Reduce heat to low and stir in low-fat sour cream and nutmeg. Ensure the mixture is well combined and smooth. If the sauce is too thick, add additional chicken broth, a tablespoon at a time, to reach desired consistency.

Step 6

Return meatballs to the pan and gently toss to coat in the sauce. Simmer for an additional 2-3 minutes until the meatballs are heated through.

Step 7

Serve the meatballs garnished with chopped parsley, if desired. Enjoy with a side of boiled potatoes or steamed vegetables for a complete meal.
