Ingredients

  • 3 cups All-purpose flour
  • 2.25 teaspoons Instant yeast
  • 2 tablespoons Sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 cup Nonfat milk
  • 0.25 cup Water
  • 1 Egg white
  • 2 tablespoons Vegetable oil
  • 1 as needed Cooking spray

Directions

Step 1

In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, instant yeast, sugar, and salt.

Step 2

In a small saucepan, warm the nonfat milk and water over low heat until lukewarm (about 110°F or 43°C).

Step 3

Add the lukewarm milk and water mixture, egg white, and vegetable oil to the dry ingredients in the bowl.

Step 4

Mix the ingredients until a soft dough forms. If using a stand mixer, use the dough hook attachment and knead on medium speed for about 5-7 minutes until the dough is smooth and elastic. If kneading by hand, turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead for about 10 minutes.

Step 5

Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl, cover it with a damp cloth or plastic wrap, and let it rise in a warm, draft-free place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.

Step 6

Punch down the risen dough to release excess air. Divide the dough into 12 equal pieces and shape each piece into a ball.

Step 7

Place the balls on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, leaving some space between them. Cover with a damp cloth or plastic wrap and let them rise for another 20-30 minutes until nearly doubled.

Step 8

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

Step 9

Once the buns have risen, lightly spray the tops with water or cooking spray to keep them soft.

Step 10

Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes or until the buns are lightly golden brown on top.

Step 11

Remove from the oven and let the buns cool on a wire rack.

Step 12

Serve the buns warm or at room temperature. Store any leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days or freeze for longer storage.
