Ingredients

  • 1 pound lean ground turkey
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 medium, chopped onion
  • 2 cloves, minced garlic
  • 2 teaspoons chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 0.5 teaspoon paprika
  • 0.5 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 0.25 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 0.75 teaspoon salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon black pepper
  • 0.75 cup tomato sauce
  • 0.25 cup water

Directions

Step 1

In a large non-stick skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat.

Step 2

Add the chopped onion and cook, stirring occasionally, until soft and translucent, about 4-5 minutes.

Step 3

Add the minced garlic and cook for another 30 seconds until fragrant.

Lower the heat to medium and stir in the chili powder, ground cumin, paprika, dried oregano, cayenne pepper, salt, and black pepper. Mix until the turkey is evenly coated with the spices.

Step 7

Pour in the tomato sauce and water, stirring to combine.

Reduce heat to low and let the mixture simmer, uncovered, for 5-7 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly.
