Ingredients

  • 1 pound Tri-tip beef
  • 1 tablespoon Olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons Low sodium soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic powder
  • 2 teaspoons Fresh rosemary
  • 1 teaspoon Ground black pepper
  • 4 pieces Whole-grain sandwich rolls
  • 4 tablespoons Low-fat mayonnaise
  • 2 teaspoons Dijon mustard
  • 1 cup Arugula
  • 1 large Tomato, sliced
  • 0.5 cup Red onion, thinly sliced

Directions

Step 1

Preheat the grill to medium-high heat.

Step 2

In a small bowl, mix olive oil, soy sauce, garlic powder, rosemary, and ground black pepper.

Step 3

Place the tri-tip beef in a shallow dish or a resealable plastic bag.

Step 4

Pour the marinade over the beef, ensuring it is evenly coated. Let it marinate for at least 15 minutes.

Step 5

While the beef is marinating, prepare the sandwich toppings. Mix low-fat mayonnaise and Dijon mustard in a small bowl and set aside. Slice the tomato and thinly slice the red onion.

Step 6

Once the grill is hot, place the marinated tri-tip on the grill.

Step 7

Grill the beef for about 10-12 minutes on each side, or until a meat thermometer reads 145°F for medium-rare.

Step 8

Remove the tri-tip from the grill, cover it with aluminum foil, and let it rest for 5 minutes to allow juices to redistribute.

Step 9

While the beef is resting, cut the whole-grain sandwich rolls in half and lightly toast them on the grill for 1-2 minutes.

Step 10

Thinly slice the rested tri-tip beef against the grain for tenderness.

Step 11

To assemble the sandwiches, spread a tablespoon of the mayonnaise mixture on the bottom half of each toasted roll.

Step 12

Layer on a few slices of tri-tip, followed by arugula, tomato slices, and red onions.

Step 13

Close the sandwich with the top half of the roll and serve immediately.
