Ingredients

  • 500 grams lean beef sirloin
  • 60 ml low-sodium soy sauce
  • 30 ml lemon juice
  • 15 ml honey
  • 2 cloves garlic cloves
  • 1 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1 red bell pepper
  • 1 green bell pepper
  • 1 red onion
  • 1 zucchini
  • 8 wooden or metal skewers

Directions

Step 1

Trim any visible fat from the beef sirloin and cut into 1-inch cubes.

Step 2

In a mixing bowl, combine the low-sodium soy sauce, lemon juice, honey, minced garlic, and ground black pepper to make the marinade.

Step 3

Add the beef cubes to the marinade, making sure the pieces are well coated. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.

Step 4

While the beef is marinating, soak wooden skewers in water if using, to prevent them from burning on the grill.

Step 5

Prepare the vegetables: cut the red and green bell peppers into 1-inch pieces, slice the red onion into 1-inch segments, and slice the zucchini into 1/2-inch rounds.

Step 6

Remove the beef from the marinade and discard the marinade.

Step 7

Thread the beef, red bell pepper, green bell pepper, onion, and zucchini alternately onto skewers, leaving a little space between each piece to ensure even cooking.

Step 8

Preheat your grill to medium-high heat.

Step 9

Place the skewers on the grill and cook for about 10-12 minutes, turning occasionally, until the beef is cooked to your preferred level of doneness and vegetables are tender.

Step 10

Remove the skewers from the grill and allow to rest for a few minutes before serving.

Step 11

Serve the skewers hot as a main dish alongside some brown rice or a fresh salad for a complete meal.
