Ingredients

  • 250 grams whole wheat fusilli pasta
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 onion
  • 3 garlic cloves
  • 400 grams canned crushed tomatoes
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
  • 0.25 teaspoon black pepper
  • 10 fresh basil leaves
  • 30 grams Parmesan cheese (optional)

Directions

Step 1

Bring a large pot of water to a boil. Add a pinch of salt to the boiling water and cook the whole wheat fusilli pasta according to the package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

Step 2

While the pasta is cooking, peel and finely chop the onion and garlic cloves.

Step 3

In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and sauté for about 5 minutes until translucent.
