Ingredients

  • 150 grams Rolled oats
  • 100 grams Whole wheat flour
  • 1 teaspoon Baking powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon Baking soda
  • 0.25 teaspoon Salt
  • 50 grams Brown sugar
  • 100 grams Unsweetened applesauce
  • 2 tablespoons Honey
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract
  • 4 tablespoons Skim milk
  • 2 tablespoons Vegetable oil

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F) and line two baking trays with parchment paper.

Step 2

In a large mixing bowl, combine the rolled oats, whole wheat flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Mix well to ensure even distribution of the dry ingredients.

Step 3

In another bowl, whisk together the brown sugar, unsweetened applesauce, honey, vanilla extract, skim milk, and vegetable oil until smooth.

Step 4

Add the wet mixture to the dry ingredients and stir gently to form a dough. Ensure the oats are evenly coated and the mixture is well combined.

Step 5

Using a tablespoon, scoop small mounds of dough onto the prepared baking trays, leaving some space between each cookie as they will spread slightly during baking.

Step 6

Flatten each mound slightly with the back of a spoon or with your fingers to form a biscuit shape.

Step 7

Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes or until the biscuits are golden brown and crisp.

Step 8

Remove from the oven and let the biscuits cool on the baking trays for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Step 9

Store the biscuits in an airtight container to maintain their crispiness.
