Ingredients

  • 1 pound Lean sirloin steak
  • 0 Cooking spray
  • 1 large Onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 medium Green bell pepper, thinly sliced
  • 1 cup Mushrooms, thinly sliced
  • 0.5 teaspoon Garlic powder
  • 0.5 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.25 teaspoon Black pepper
  • 4 slices Reduced-fat provolone cheese
  • 4 small Whole wheat hoagie rolls

Directions

Step 1

Place the sirloin steak in the freezer for 20 minutes to make it easier to slice thinly.

Step 2

Once the steak is firm, use a sharp knife to slice it as thinly as possible against the grain to ensure tenderness.

Step 3

Preheat a large non-stick skillet over medium-high heat and lightly coat with cooking spray.

Step 4

Add the sliced onions, green bell peppers, and mushrooms to the skillet. Sauté for 5 minutes or until the vegetables are softened.

Step 5

Add the thinly sliced steak to the skillet with the vegetables, then sprinkle with garlic powder, salt, and black pepper.

Step 6

Cook the steak, stirring frequently, for about 5-7 minutes until it is browned and cooked through.

Step 7

Reduce the heat to low and place the slices of reduced-fat provolone cheese evenly over the steak-vegetable mixture. Cover the skillet and allow the cheese to melt, about 1-2 minutes.

Step 8

Split the whole wheat hoagie rolls and lightly toast them to your preference.

Step 9

Divide the steak and cheese mixture equally among the hoagie rolls.

Step 10

Serve immediately while hot and enjoy your low-fat classic Philly cheesesteak.
