Ingredients

  • 500 grams lean ground beef (90% lean)
  • 60 grams whole wheat bread crumbs
  • 1 medium, finely chopped onion
  • 1 large egg white
  • 2 cloves, minced garlic
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 0.5 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 0.5 teaspoon black pepper
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 0 cooking spray

Directions

Step 1

In a large mixing bowl, combine the lean ground beef, whole wheat bread crumbs, chopped onion, egg white, minced garlic, Worcestershire sauce, dried oregano, dried thyme, black pepper, and salt. Mix everything gently with your hands until well integrated.

Step 2

Divide the mixture into 8 equal portions and shape each portion into a patty that is about 1/2 inch thick.

Step 3

Heat a non-stick skillet or grill pan over medium-low heat and lightly coat it with cooking spray.

Step 4

Add the olive oil to the skillet and swirl to coat.

Step 5

Place the patties in the skillet, ensuring not to overcrowd the pan. Cook the patties for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until they are browned and cooked through. The internal temperature should reach at least 160°F (71°C).

Step 6

Once cooked, remove the patties from the skillet and let them rest for a couple of minutes to allow juices to redistribute.

Step 7

Serve the meat patties warm with your choice of sides, such as a green salad or steamed vegetables.
