Ingredients

  • 2 cups All-purpose flour
  • 1 packet Dry active yeast
  • 1 cup Warm skim milk
  • 0.25 cup Granulated sugar
  • 0.5 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 large Egg
  • 2 tablespoons Unsalted butter (melted)
  • 0.5 cup Low-sugar fruit jelly
  • 0 Cooking spray
  • 0 Powdered sugar (optional, for dusting)

Directions

Step 1

In a large mixing bowl, combine 1 cup of the flour with the yeast.

Step 2

In a small saucepan or microwave, warm the skim milk to about 110°F (43°C).

Step 3

Add the warm milk, sugar, salt, egg, and melted butter to the flour and yeast mixture. Beat vigorously with a wooden spoon until smooth.

Step 4

Gradually add the remaining flour and continue to mix until a soft dough forms. The dough should be soft but sticky.

Step 5

Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for about 5 to 7 minutes until smooth and elastic.

Step 6

Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl, cover it with a clean kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place until doubled in size, about 1 hour.

Step 7

Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly spray it with cooking spray.

Step 8

Punch down the dough to release air bubbles. Divide the dough into 12 equal pieces and shape them into smooth balls.

Step 9

Place the dough balls on the prepared baking sheet, about 2 inches apart. Cover them with the kitchen towel and let them rest for another 10-15 minutes.

Step 10

Bake the donuts in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until they are golden brown.

Step 11

Allow the donuts to cool slightly before filling them.

Step 12

Using a piping bag equipped with a narrow tip, fill each donut with about 2 teaspoons of fruit jelly.

Step 13

Optionally, dust the donuts with powdered sugar before serving.
