Ingredients

  • 8 ounces Ground turkey (93% lean)
  • 4 large Egg whites
  • 4 pieces Whole wheat English muffins
  • 4 slices Low-fat cheddar cheese
  • 1 large Tomato
  • 4 leaves Leaf lettuce
  • 0.5 medium Red onion
  • 0.5 teaspoon Garlic powder
  • 0.25 teaspoon Black pepper
  • 0.25 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 tablespoon Olive oil cooking spray

Directions

Step 1

In a mixing bowl, combine the ground turkey with garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix well and shape the mixture into four equal-sized patties.

Step 2

Preheat a non-stick skillet over medium heat and lightly coat with olive oil cooking spray. Cook the turkey patties for about 5-6 minutes on each side, or until fully cooked through and browned on the outside.

Step 3

While the patties are cooking, separate the egg whites into a bowl, discarding the yolks. Whisk the egg whites until slightly frothy.

Step 4

In another non-stick skillet, lightly spray with olive oil cooking spray and scramble the egg whites over medium heat until fully cooked and fluffy. Set aside and keep warm.

Step 5

Toast the whole wheat English muffins in a toaster until golden brown.

Step 6

Slice the tomato and red onion into thin rounds.

Step 7

To assemble each breakfast burger, start by placing a lettuce leaf on the bottom half of a toasted English muffin. Add a cooked turkey patty on top, followed by a slice of low-fat cheddar cheese, scrambled egg whites, a slice of tomato, and a couple of onion rings. Top with the other half of the English muffin.

Step 8

Serve warm and enjoy your low-fat breakfast burger with a side of fresh fruit or a light salad for a complete meal.
