Ingredients

  • 4 pieces Cod fillets
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon Black pepper
  • 150 grams All-purpose flour
  • 1.5 teaspoons Baking powder
  • 200 milliliters Water
  • 1 teaspoon Lemon zest
  • 1 bottle Olive oil spray
  • 4 pieces Large potatoes
  • 1 teaspoon Paprika
  • 2 tablespoons Malt vinegar

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 200°C (400°F).

Step 2

Peel and cut the potatoes into thick strips for fries. Place them on a baking sheet.

Step 3

Spray the fries lightly with olive oil, sprinkle with paprika and half the salt. Toss to coat evenly.

Step 4

Bake the fries in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, turning them halfway through cooking, until golden and crispy.

Step 5

Meanwhile, pat dry the cod fillets with paper towels and season with the remaining salt and pepper.

Step 6

In a bowl, mix the flour and baking powder. Gradually whisk in the water until you have a smooth batter.

Step 7

Stir in the lemon zest to the batter for added flavor.

Step 8

Heat a large non-stick frying pan over medium heat and spray with olive oil.

Step 9

Dip each cod fillet into the batter, allowing any excess to drip off, then gently place into the hot pan.

Step 10

Cook the fish in batches, if necessary, for about 3-4 minutes on each side until the batter is golden and the fish is cooked through.

Step 11

When the chips are ready, remove them from the oven and sprinkle them with malt vinegar to taste.

Step 12

Serve the crispy battered fish with a generous portion of chips on each plate.
