Ingredients

  • 3 cups All-purpose flour
  • 0.5 cup Granulated sugar
  • 0.5 teaspoon Salt
  • 2.25 teaspoons Instant yeast
  • 1 cup Low-fat milk
  • 4 tablespoons Unsalted butter
  • 1 large Egg
  • 2 teaspoons Ground cinnamon
  • 0.75 cup Brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract
  • 0 Cooking spray

Directions

Step 1

In a mixing bowl, combine 3 cups of all-purpose flour, 0.25 cups of granulated sugar, 0.5 teaspoon of salt, and 2.25 teaspoons of instant yeast.

Step 2

In a small saucepan, heat 1 cup of low-fat milk and 3 tablespoons of unsalted butter over low heat until the butter melts. Let it cool to lukewarm.

Step 3

Add the milk mixture to the dry ingredients in the mixing bowl. Add 1 large egg and knead the mixture until a soft dough forms.

Step 4

Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead for about 5 minutes until smooth. Cover with a damp cloth and let it rise for 1 hour until doubled in size.

Step 5

In a small bowl, mix 0.5 cup of granulated sugar, 2 teaspoons of ground cinnamon, and 0.75 cup of brown sugar.

Step 6

After the dough has doubled, preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and spray a 12-cup muffin tin with cooking spray.

Step 7

Roll out the risen dough on a floured surface into a rectangle about 12x18 inches.

Step 8

Spread 1 tablespoon of melted unsalted butter over the dough and sprinkle the cinnamon sugar mixture evenly over the buttered dough.

Step 9

Tightly roll up the dough from the long side, creating a log. Cut into 12 even pieces.

Step 10

Place each piece into the prepared muffin tin. Cover the tin with a damp cloth and let the buns rise for 20 minutes.

Step 11

Bake the buns in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.

Step 12

In a small bowl, mix 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract with leftover cinnamon sugar (if any) and lightly dust the warm buns before serving.
