Ingredients

  • 1 pound Lean Ground Turkey
  • 4 ounces Low-Fat Mozzarella Cheese, cubed
  • 0.5 cup Rolled Oats
  • 1 unit Egg White
  • 2 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 0.5 cup Onion, finely chopped
  • 1 teaspoon Dried Oregano
  • 1 teaspoon Dried Basil
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 0.5 teaspoon Black Pepper
  • 0 optional Olive Oil Cooking Spray
  • 1.5 cups Tomato Sauce

Directions

Step 1

Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).

Step 2

In a large bowl, combine the lean ground turkey, rolled oats, egg white, minced garlic, chopped onion, dried oregano, dried basil, salt, and black pepper. Mix well until all ingredients are thoroughly combined.

Step 3

Take a small amount of the turkey mixture and flatten it into a disc in your palm.

Step 4

Place a cube of low-fat mozzarella cheese in the center of the disc.

Step 5

Carefully fold the meat around the cheese and roll it into a ball, ensuring the cheese is completely covered by the meat.

Step 6

Repeat the process with the remaining meat mixture and cheese cubes.

Step 7

Place the meatballs in a baking dish sprayed with olive oil cooking spray to prevent sticking.

Step 8

Bake the meatballs in the preheated oven for about 20 minutes, or until the meat is thoroughly cooked and no longer pink in the center.

Step 9

While the meatballs are baking, heat the tomato sauce in a small saucepan over low heat.

Step 10

Once the meatballs are done, remove them from the oven and pour the hot tomato sauce over them.

Step 11

Serve the meatballs hot, garnished with fresh basil or parsley if desired.
